The Parenting Partnership is a partnership between Parenting Professionals who have an intense passion and desire to help parents partner with each other to more effectively support their children as they grow up. We believe that successful parenting comes from successful partnerships between parents, children, schools and the communities. We provide parenting workshops that include information and experiences to help parents be better partners in creating thriving relationships for raising successful children.
Dina Emser is a successful parent of two grown children, a former teacher and school principal, who currently provides coaching and workshops for parents, schools and businesses. The Parenting Partnership provides the following programs for parents. Each workshop is 2 hours in length. Programs can be arranged individually or grouped for consecutive weeks of presentation.
Brain Basics--What it Means for You and Your Child
In this session we will explore what new findings in brain science have to teach us about our children and how they learn. We will discuss general learning styles, learning differences, and motivation. A medical degree is not required--be prepared to take away a greater understanding and awe of our human potential for learning!
How to Get Kids to Do What You Want…Without Yelling
Who wouldn’t love to have children who cooperate, children who do what you ask them to do and don’t fuss? In this program we will look at what kinds of adult behaviors actually motivate children so that we are working with instead of against their natural tendencies. We will have some fun and you will leave with strategies you can try right away to increase doing and decrease yelling.
Talking so Children Will Listen, and Listening so Children Will Talk
Not listening is one of the most common parent complaints about children. In this session we will learn some basic things that we can do right away that will help children develop this highly needed and valuable skill. We will also learn some subtle and powerful shifts we parents can make to encourage children to talk to us so we can truly connect to them.
Lasso the Teachable Moments to Optimize Precious Time
Wouldn’t it be great if we could just toss a big lasso around all of those teachable moments and reel them in to optimize learning and to build relationships with our kids? In this session, we will learn about ways to be more proactive in our fast-paced world and be present for those training opportunities instead of missing out. You will leave with tips for preparing kids for school, learning responsibility for homework, optimizing car time, training for chores and more.
Why Can’t You Parent Like Me? How To Handle One House and Two Styles
This is an interactive workshop for parents who want to work together as a team despite differing parenting styles. Yes, you can still be individuals with different techniques and parent from the same page! Be prepared to have fun and come away with a better understanding of your own style, your spouse’s style, and ways to encourage each other and work together towards the same goal.
Teaming with Your Child’s School
In this workshop we will explore ways to forge productive partnerships with your child’s teacher and school staff members. We will look at resources and mandates that schools have to serve the needs of all children. Communication with teachers and ways to approach individuals will be demonstrated. It’s time for us to work together to promote the school success of our children!
Technology and our Kids
Technology will not move backwards. It’s time to get on board as parents and talk our kids’ language. In this session we will explore strategies for managing the challenges that increased technology pose to our children before they get to the crisis stage. Issues included are cell phones, texting and sexting, social networking sites and cyber bullying.
